It is *always* a pleasure watching someone with a passion for their subject, whatever that passion may be - vertical plant walls in this instance. It is even better to learn from, and be inspired by, a genuine expert with bags of experience. There are masses of tips and help for those of us with smaller budgets but big ambitions ... Love this video!
Holy Molly, I am in awe of this!!! Amazing job!!!! It looks stunningly beautiful! I must do this!Awesome work . Plz give more detail in video like how irrigation system install nd how planting is done still a nice video wonderful work 🙂
Humm..very interesting.. a new idea to display plants for me! I hope you dive deeper into design of it..really enjoyed this episode. Your guest or host are always very knowledgeable.. Thanks for inviting us along
This is probably my most favorite video you've ever posted!! I'm absolutely smitten with living walls and would love to have one in my home. The closest I'll get, though, is a wooden letter that I glued preserved mosses on. Buahahahaha! I've sprayed it, occasionally, just to breathe in the joy of the experience of an actual living wall. Hahahahaha! I would love to build a structure on the spindles of our front porch so the bottom is all living wall. I live in Michigan so the plants would need to come inside for winter and put back outside. Sounds like a lovely excuse for a heated greenhouse!!
Check out the POD Living Wall system - it's similar to the tray system but separates the irrigation from the leaves and soil spill, which is one challenge with the open tray system she was speaking about. When you angle a plant a small amount of the top soil often will slide out which ends up in the irrigation water and over time is messy and a place for pests to live. I've used both and definitely prefer the PODS when maintaining the walls
I made a living wall with perch Magnetic Modular System in my kitchen, which is original for the office supplies organization. No drainage hole, no extra growing lights, no extra care, after six years the only plant lives very well is pothos😜. They keep a clean look just like at the beginning, I just need give them a "haircut" sometimes.
Great video! So well explained. There's was mention about felt pocket systems here but that seemed different than the Florafelt pocket system that is lightweight and easy to change. This might be something worth checking out for your new project.
I’m planning on making a green wall with pon in a big planter at the bottom and cord going up and down within the moss. Will isolate the structure with landscape fabric and probably spray a mix of vinegar and tea tree oil behind it just to make sure there are no fungal issues. Fingers crossed!
Here’s a response that isn’t laced with a guilt tripping moral superiority complex: it will increase biodiversity which will then prevent the populations of other insects from getting out of control. You can also plant insect repelling plants like basil, chives, chamomile, mint, marigolds, milkweed and lavender.
I love the video. I just find that a lot of information is given but not I'm still not seeing the products used for those systems. I.e the trays that Rebecca removes those little plants from, I'm not sure exactly how that's looking, is it possible for you to perhaps assist in giving me an idea on that.
Hi Summer, I was wondering how long the green wall in your apartment in Brooklyn lasted and if it is still going strong. Is that something you might consider replicating in your new home? I ask because I live in Montreal and was thinking about a green wall in our home too and have been following your channel with interest for all the interesting information. Thanks
Can't wait to see what crazy idea Summer will come up with for the green wall at Flock 🌱☘🎄🌴🌵🌿😆

Years ago The Phoenix Botanical Garden displayed a living succulent wall! Stunning!
Beautiful green wall
This was a great 101 on plant walls. Thank you.

I work in a school with green wall space but no one to foster the space. Lots of ideas after watching. Thank you!
Amazingly beautiful
As always, great video.

It's getting quite challenging, with the problems high humidity can cause. Maybe just put tribble-like air plants all over.
I can't wait to see the one you do at flock!🌻🌱

These living walls take my breath away. My dream is to have a living wall someday but I have nightmares about spider mites and pest management
Good morning Summer, thanks for that episode! Is there a link or more info for those tray system for the greenwall?
I think a lot of the systems that Rebecca uses are modified from www.gsky.com/
@@summerrayneoakes WOWZA! What a link!! 10/10
This is great but what about bugs 🐛 and insects 🐜
Insects are natural
Surely the insects and the bugs are one of the reasons for installing living walls. To provide biodiversity / habitats?

I wish this video is longer.
It seems like every business would want the tray system, or fake plants for the easiest care, haha. 😄
